A great class for beginning knitters wanting to learn circular knitting on double pointed needles or for experienced knitters who've never tackled a sock. Andrea Osbon will teach the fundamentals of a basic "cuff-down" sock knitting with a pattern created by our own Helene Driesen. You will learn the "anatomy" of a sock so you'll be off to the races in sock knitting once you've completed your first pair.

Sharon Brant Workshop: Style a Knit to Suit You

Instructor: Sharon Brant

How to style a garment to suit you whether you are small, large or extra large. Bring a couple of garments that either, you don't like or you do, that fit's well or doesn't (these don't have to be knitted.) Learn the use of gauge and stitches, shaping and necklines that would all go to make that perfect sweater for you.

Cookie A Sock Class

Cookie A is one of the hottest sock designers on the scene these days.  Join Helene Driesen for a class tackling one of Cookie A’s patterns – specific pattern to be voted by Seed Stitch customers throughout September and October.  Walk out of the 3 week class well on your way to a phenomenal pair of socks.

Prior experience knitting socks is a MUST for this class.  Please stop in to pick up your Cookie A Sock Innovation book as well as some great sock yarn for your project.  Supplies not included in Class fee.

One Day Finishing Workshop

Instructor: Laurie Bellin

Many of the best knitters even have trouble when it comes to finishing garments.  The great two part, one day session will teach you many of the finishing tools of the trade as well as help you in finishing one of your current projects.  The first half of the class (10:00-1:00) will show you various finishing techniques and the second half (2:00-5:00) will help you through the specifics of your project.

Please come to class with three 4X4 inch swatches and one 4x4 inch swatch still on your needles in any worsted or DK weight yarn.  As well bring a project that is need of finishing for the second half of the session. 

Opera Gloves - Evenings

This is a fantastic project that you’re sure to love.  Many of you have seen the amazing opera gloves designed by local favorite Leslie Scanlon of Mac & Me.  Join Margie to work through this project and learn how to make a pair of gloves that won’t disappoint.

Top Down Sweater

Want to tackle your first sweater? Or looking to tackle a top-down sweater?  Join Sumner for this great sweater class.  You’ll learn the basics of top down sweater construction.  Start at the neck and work your way down.  The beauty of a top-down sweater is that there is little to no assembly required so for those of you who hate finishing, this is a project for you. 

Basic knitting skills required, but this is a great project for a beginner who feels ready to tackle a sweater.  Supplies and pattern not included in course fee. 

Leaning Hearts Crochet

Instructor: Trysh Lynch

Crochet is an amazing art form and experiencing resurgence in today’s fiber arts.  Our very own Trysh Lynch has developed a new and exciting method of crochet known as Leaning Hearts Crochet.  It’s absolutely beautiful and the possibilities of creation are endless once you see it. It feels full and fluffy with the dimension of interior design.  This class will teach you how to leverage Trysh’s technique across a variety of creations.  Students will be able to make home furnishings such as a pillow or seat cushion or explore creation of a bag but the technique also has great utility across clothing and accessories.

Basic crochet experience is required for this class.  Please stop in to pick up your supplies.  Basic pattern and instruction will be supplied, but yarn and other materials for final project creation are not included in the course fee.

Ruffle Scarf Workshop

Stranded Knitting through Latvian Mittens

Have you seen those amazing Latvian mittens floating around the shop? Ready to take your craft to the next level.  Folks were so excited about this class we had to open up another session. Add stranded knitting to your bag of tricks with this fantastic class which will help you create your own Latvian mittens.  Based on patterns from Latvian Mittens: Traditional Designs & Technique, you’ll learn the technique for stranded knitting as well as be able to leverage patterns in this book to design your very own pair.

Requires basic knitting skills as well as experience knitting in the round. Drop in to pick up the book for the course Latvian Mittens: Traditional Designs and Techniques as well as some suitable yarns for your project. Supplies and pattern book not included in course fee.  Please come to the first class having read through a bit of the book and chosen the design you’d like to create.

Rug Hooking with YARN!

Love yarn and looking for a new way to express yourself?  Join us for this exciting new addition to the Seed Stitch Line up – Rug Hooking with Yarn.  Phyllis Poor, from Bower Bird Studio in Chelmsford, is a local talent who has been designing rug hooking patterns and hooking for years.  In this class you’ll learn the art of hooking with yarn and choose to either make a bag or a pillow.  

No prior hooking experience required.  Stop in to purchase your starter kit and yarns to customize your creation to your personal style or décor.  Supplies not included in course fee.  Kit includes burlap base and design, hook, and some starter yarns to get going and the creative juices flowing.

Thrummed Mittens

If you’ve ever seen thrummed mittens you know how fantastic this technique is.  Thrums are little folded wisps of fleece knit into some stitches of the mitten creating a soft, warm, and pillowy inside.  Join Helene for this four session class to learn this technique through a pattern of Helene’s own creation.

Men’s Knitting Class

Kids Learn to Knit from other Kids

Want to get your kids engaged in knitting, well this is the class.  Join Ben Robert for this great introductory learn to knit class geared for kids 10-15.  Ben is 15 years old and an amazing knitter.  He has taught students of all ages and will offer a great way for your child to learn from someone close in age.

Beginning Crochet

Crochet is hot hot hot theses days, with more and more designers utilizing the power of crochet to create garments and enhance knitted designs.  In this intro to crochet class you’ll work on a scarf that will teach you all the crochet skills you’ll need to be off to the races.  Learn single, double, and triple crochet, how to read a pattern and charts, etc.

Drop and pick up your supplies.  Yarns not included but a pattern will be provided. Prior crochet experience is not required.

Fixes and Mistakes Workshop

Instructor: Laurie Bellin

Ever dropped a stitch, realized after 6 or 7 rows that you purled when you should have knit? Well join us for this great 3 hour workshop that will help you work through some of the basics of fixes.  The first half of the class will be devoted to basic techniques to help you through almost any mishap.  For the second half of the workshop, bring in a project that’s been plaguing you or in which you need some help.  Learn how to get through your project mistake and also see what others are tackling.

Please come to workshop prepared with a roughly 4X4 inch swatch in any worsted or DK yarn still on your needles.  As well bring your bag of tools like a darning needle, crochet hook, scissors, etc.

Two Socks at a Time from the Toe Up

Do you get through one sock and never complete the second? Or are you looking to learn how to knit a sock from the toe up?  Well this is the perfect class for you.  Learn this fabulous way to knit two socks at the same time on two long circular needles.

Intermediate Crochet Workshop- The Aztec Scarf

Technique: Knitting Backwards

Instructor: Trysh Lynch

Have you encountered a pattern that calls for knitting backwards? Overheard someone talking about it?  Ever wonder what that is or why it might be a key tool in your knitting arsenal?  Knitting backwards is a fantastic technique with many uses.  It can be used as a substitute for purling in most cases or making the stockinette without turning the work around.  Short rows are easier to develop and keep track of.  Lace also has a benefit. In freeform lace: the shapes, increases, yarn-overs and decreases may be done in either direction.  Join Trysh Lynch for this great workshop that will add another great technique to your bag of tricks.

Please bring a 3-4 inch swatch of a DK or worsted weight yarn still on the needles.
